We are collecting accession-level information from seed banks, botanical gardens, herbaria, nurseries, and other living collections to better understand which Texas priority G1 species are represented in existing collections.

Report conservation activity occurring at your organization.
We are requesting information about conservation work your institution is conducting, including restoration, research, monitoring, advocacy, and education. For certain in-situ actions, we also request county-level information. These data will help identify geographic and taxonomic gaps in conservation efforts and guide future collaboration.

Texas Priority G1 Species
Texas is home to an extraordinary diversity of native plants, including many species found nowhere else. Yet information about their populations, conservation status, and ongoing conservation efforts can be fragmented across organizations, institutions, and agencies.
With guidance from NatureServe and the Texas Natural Heritage Program, we identified 124 species of urgent conservation need, including G1s, GHs, and T1s. While this list does not include every species of conservation concern in Texas, we hope it will provide a strong foundation for future information sharing and collaboration.
How we will use your data
Take Conservation Action Survey
Contributed data will be used to help us identify species and geographic areas in need of conservation attention, connect partners on existing research, and increase potential for collaboration on species or region-based funding opportunities.
The TXPCA will not publicly share or publish individual records submitted through this project. Information provided by partners will be used to develop maps, analyses, and other resources that help identify conservation priorities and gaps across Texas. Individual records may be reviewed and used internally by TXPCA gap analysis partners for conservation planning and analysis. Public-facing maps, reports, and other materials will present information in a way that may display which organizations are working with priority species on a county level, but will not identify individual submissions or disclose sensitive site-level information.
